  MCBA STATE COMPETITION
Detroit - Ford Field
November 3, 2018

Congratulations to the Viking Regiment on a successful season, finishing 4th in the state!

The students' felt extremely proud of their performance. I believe this was their best performance this year. Playing without the weather elements, certainly made it enjoyable. It is important the band remembers the emotions they felt performing the show. The score is just a number and should not be the main focus that remembered from this performance. Take the memories your created this season and hold onto them. You left it all on the field as you "played with power, marched with pride!"  The Viking Regiment finished the season ranked 4th in the State in Class IV competition.  Our raw score of 87.7 had us in third place but due to a   .2 deduction for a violation of not exiting the field within the 2-minute time limit it was enough of a penalty to drop us to fourth place.

The penalty is another learning experience. It also is a reminder that every 1/100th of a point is crucial. The success of the Viking Regiment would not be possible without the generous support of time, talents and efforts by the band families, pit crew parents, and the chaperones. The number of volunteers is too significant to list. If you had any part in this year's show, please accept my sincerest thanks and gratitude for your contributions to the success of the show.

A special thank you to Mrs. Colleen Ryan and Mrs. Andrea Paul for capturing such wonderful memories of the MCBA state championship performance.

"Play with power, march with pride!"
