September 26, 2020
As you all know, we are living in a constant state of change. This means that what was published as performances earlier this year are no longer happening! However, new dates are being added. I am asking each of you to please be patient and understand that there might be many last minute changes and/or additions to the schedules and band related activities. It is my hope to give the students as many performance based opportunities as is safely possible.
Middle School Band Students should all be using their Smart Music program and doing their playing assignments on a daily basis. If you are still having problems, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and set up a time to meet with me at the school to try and resolve any issues. Also, all MS band students are reminded that they need to have their instruments out and ready during every Zoom Class Meeting!
Please continue to watch the website for updates regarding the MS band concert in October. With the recent news from Governor Whitmer, I am waiting to see if we can use the auditorium and have three separate concerts for each grade level with two family members in attendance for each student.
The HS Bands are working on their marching show. With only one evening sectional each week, it is really eye opening just how crucial the daily rehearsals are. Without the repetition, it is definitely going to be a challenge to put together the marching shows. This year, the Freshmen Band is proud to present "Beauty And The Beast." They will be performing virtually for MSBOA Marching Band Festival and later this fall in a marching "Band-A-Rama" performance!
The Viking Regiment's show this year is titled "Ants life!" The band members worked extremely hard during their summer camp to learn the show with the hope that they would be given the opportunity to perform. As of now, there are three Marching performances they will be attending and a possibility of a fourth! In addition, we are waiting to hear if MHS Band is selected to be a part of this year's Thanksgiving Parade.
Please make sure you have the following dates for the MHS Viking Regiment!
